The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
Canada is making progress in advancing the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, focusing its efforts on advancing five priorities: No Poverty (SDG 1), Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Climate Change (SDG 13) and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). On January 1st 2016, the 17 SDGs of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development officially came into force! These new goals universally apply to all, countries will mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change while ensuring that no one is left behind.
Right here in our home province of Alberta, not only has BPW Edmonton been formally recognized by BPW International for advancing the SDGs through their Mentorship Collaboration Circles, BPW Calgary has also been applauded by BPW International for advancing the SDGs through their Mentorship Program. In fact BPW Calgary's Mentorship Program was nominated for the Best Practices Award at The Institute of Canadian Citizenship in 2010 and shared at Women's Resources Centre at the University of Calgary and with numerous other women's organizations across the city.
Both BPW Calgary and BPW Edmonton deliver monthly programming promoting the SDGs to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. To participate in this transformation and to learn more about each of these clubs, please contact them here.

During the pandemic, BPW Alberta's focus shifted on the SDGs.
